After his degree with honors in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Milan in 1990, Saverio Paltrinieri obtained a PhD in Comparative pathology of domestic animals at the same University (1993). At the Department of Veterinary Sciences and Public Health of the University of Milan, now Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, he was Assistant Professor in Veterinary General Pathology from 1995 to 2001, Assistant professor from 2001 and 2016 and is currently Full professor of Veterinary General Pathology and Pathophysiology. He was director of the diagnostic laboratory of the Department, vicedirector of the Clinical Pathology Unit of the Central Lab of the veterinary teaching hospital and Director of the Veterinary Teaching hospital and Teaching farm of the University of Milan. Saverio Paltrinieri is a charter member of the European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP) and he was President of the ECVCP from 2011 to 2014. Research interest are focused on the pathogenesis and diagnosis of the main clinico-pathological abnormalities of domestic animals, with special emphasis on energy metabolism in farm animals, and on biomarkers of inflammation and on infectious diseases of dogs and cats, with special emphasis on feline infectious peritonitis in cats and leihsmaniasis in dogs. Saverio Paltrinieri is author or co-Author of several papers published on national or international peer-reviewed journals and he was speaker or invited speaker in many national and international congresses
